Ultrasound

Service Overview:
Ultrasound is a safe and non-invasive imaging technique that uses sound waves to create real-time images of the body’s internal structures. This type of scan is commonly used to assess organs, blood vessels, soft tissues, and developing pregnancies. Ultrasound imaging does not use radiation, making it an ideal choice for many medical conditions.

Victorian Imaging Specialists offers a range of ultrasound services, including abdominal, pelvic, musculoskeletal, vascular, and obstetric scans. Our skilled sonographers ensure a comfortable experience and high-quality imaging for accurate diagnoses.

Preparation Guidelines:
Preparation varies depending on the type of ultrasound. Abdominal scans often require fasting for several hours, while pelvic ultrasounds may require a full bladder for better image clarity. No special preparation is needed for musculoskeletal ultrasounds. Full instructions will be provided at the time of booking.

What to Expect During the Procedure:
Patients will lie on an examination table while a clear gel is applied to the skin over the area being examined. A handheld transducer is then moved across the gelled surface to capture images. The scan is painless and typically takes between fifteen to thirty minutes.

Results and Next Steps:
Ultrasound results are reviewed by a radiologist and forwarded to the referring doctor. Patients should schedule a follow-up appointment with their healthcare provider to discuss the findings.
